Get To Know: Retin-Alt

Few skincare ingredients are as game-changing as retinol. This derivative of vitamin-A has been clinically proven to reduce signs of aging. All of this has made it a go-to for many beauty fans.

However, the benefits do not come without side effects. Retinol's powerful ability to create change in the skin can sometimes be too powerful. Skin can peel and become sensitive and irritated, especially in the first days of use. Most people are advised to being to taper in use once or twice a week gradually. While most users' skin becomes adjusted, some never do. It's also not safe for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, for fear of causing birth defects.

Alternative and more plant-based forms of retinol have been increasingly popular in the cosmetic and skincare industry as a milder alternative to retinoids—one of those being Bidens pilosa. Also known as "Spanish Needle extract," it has a retinol-like effect. It's been shown to increase collagen and elasticity in the skin.

Studies have shown that Bidens pilosa increased collagen, as well as an anti-acne effect by reducing levels of an acne-causing hormone. Bidens pilosa, the 'natural retinoid,' is extracted from the plant.

Roll Model & Night Game are both with this natural, retinol alternative.
