How do I give myself medicine?

Administering your medication at home can feel overwhelming at first, but with this step-by-step guide, you’ll learn how to give yourself a subcutaneous injection with confidence and ease.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare Your Supplies

  • Gather everything you need: the medication, a syringe, and an alcohol swab.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

2. Choose the Injection Site

  • Common areas for subcutaneous injections include the abdomen (away from the belly button), the front of the thighs, or the back of the upper arms.
  • Avoid injecting into the same exact spot every time to prevent skin irritation. It's fine to stay in the same general area, just rotate the spot slightly.

3. Clean the Area

  • Use an alcohol swab to clean the chosen injection site. Let it air dry for a few seconds.

4. Prepare the Syringe

  • Remove the cap from the needle and draw the prescribed dose of medication into the syringe.
  • Hold the syringe like a pencil, with your dominant hand.

5. Inject the Medication

  • With your other hand, gently pinch the skin around the injection site to create a firm surface (optional but recommended for beginners).
  • Insert the needle at a 45 to 90-degree angle, depending on the injection site and the amount of fatty tissue.
  • Push the plunger down slowly and steadily to inject the medication.

6. Remove the Needle

  • Once all the medication is injected, quickly remove the needle and apply gentle pressure to the injection site with the alcohol swab.

FAQ: Common Questions About Subcutaneous Injections

  • Can I inject in the same spot every week?

It’s best to rotate your injection sites within the same general area to avoid skin irritation or tissue damage.

  • Is it safe to inject in an area where I've had liposuction?

Yes, it's safe to inject in an area where you've had liposuction, as long as it’s fully healed.

  • What if I've recently had a procedure in the area?

Avoid injecting in any area that has recently undergone a medical procedure until it’s fully healed.

  • Do I need to pinch the tissue before injecting?

Pinching the skin is optional. Some people find it helps stabilize the injection site, especially if they are new to injections.

  • What if I accidentally inject at the site of a recent immunization?

While it's best to avoid the exact spot of a recent immunization, it’s not a significant concern if it happens accidentally. Just monitor the area for any unusual reactions.

How do I store my GLP-1 medication at home?

Glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) medicines are medicines like Saxenda®, Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, Zepbound®, Compounded Semaglutide and Compounded Tirzepatide.

How you store your GLP-1 medicine at home is critical for maintaining its effectiveness and safety. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

  • Always store your unopened GLP-1 medicine in the refrigerator at 36-46°F (2-8°C). Exposing your GLP-1 medicine to direct sunlight or other heat sources can affect the medication’s potency.
  • Once opened, continue storing it in the fridge and make sure to use it within 30 days.
  • Keep your GLP-1 medicine out of reach of children and pets.
  • Check your GLP-1 medicine before use for any discoloration or unusual changes in appearance. If you notice anything out of the ordinary (such as a cloudy appearance), do not use the medication.
  • Please follow the specific disposal instructions provided by your pharmacy for medicine disposal.

B12

What is vitamin B12?

Vitamin B12 is a vital nutrient essential for red blood cell formation, nerve function, DNA synthesis, and energy production.

What are the signs of B12 deficiency?

Symptoms can include fatigue, weakness, numbness or tingling in the hands and feet, difficulty walking, memory issues, and anemia.

How do I know if I need a B12 supplement?

Blood tests can determine B12 levels. Symptoms of deficiency or certain health conditions may also indicate the need for supplementation.

What foods are high in B12?

Mainly found in animal products such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and dairy. Some fortified foods and supplements also contain B12.

Can B12 supplements help with energy?

B12 supports energy metabolism, and deficiency can cause fatigue. Supplementing may boost energy levels if you’re deficient, but it doesn’t generally enhance energy in those with normal levels. Think of it as one more way to up your wellness game—with science that actually makes sense.

Compounded Semaglutide

What is semaglutide?

Semaglutide is a prescription medication that mimics a naturally occurring hormone called GLP-1, helping to regulate blood sugar, reduce appetite, and support weight loss.

How does semaglutide work for weight loss?

It works by suppressing appetite, slowing stomach emptying, and improving insulin response, which can lead to reduced calorie intake and sustained weight loss.

Is semaglutide safe?

When prescribed and monitored by a healthcare provider, semaglutide is considered safe for most people, but it may cause side effects like nausea or gastrointestinal discomfort.

What are the potential side effects of semaglutide?

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. Rare but serious risks include pancreatitis and thyroid tumors.

Can I use semaglutide if I don’t have diabetes?

Yes, semaglutide is approved for weight management in non-diabetic individuals under medical supervision, primarily for obesity or overweight adults with related health risks. Think of it as one more way to up your wellness game—with science that actually makes sense.

Compounded Tirzepatide

What is Tirzepatide?

Tirzepatide is the active ingredient found in the brand-name meds Mounjaro™ and Zepbound™. It combines two powerful hormones—GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonists—which help regulate appetite and support metabolic balance by targeting areas of the brain involved in hunger cues.

How much weight can I lose with Tirzepatide?

Everyone’s journey is different, but in a clinical study of 783 participants over 88 weeks, users lost an average of ~26.6% of their body weight. Results vary based on lifestyle, consistency, and individual response.

What are the most common side effects of Tirzepatide?

The most commonly reported side effects include:

Nausea
Constipation or diarrhea
Bloating or heartburn
Belching
Dizziness
Vomiting
General upset stomach

These are typically mild and improve as your body adjusts, though experiences may vary.

What is Compounded Tirzepatide?

Compounded tirzepatide is a custom-formulated version of the same active ingredient found in Mounjaro™ and Zepbound™. It's prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies to meet individual needs and works the same way: mimicking GLP-1 and GIP to regulate insulin, slow digestion, and reduce appetite.

What are the benefits of Compounded Tirzepatide?

More affordable: Often not covered by insurance for weight loss, brand-name tirzepatide can be expensive. Compounded versions tend to cost less.

Easier to access: With periodic shortages of name-brand versions, compounded tirzepatide may be more readily available.

Same function, personalized touch: When sourced from reputable providers, compounded tirzepatide delivers similar benefits and allows for more flexible dosing options. Think of it as one more way to up your wellness game—with science that actually makes sense.

What is Mounjaro and how does it work?

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a weekly injectable medication that mimics both GLP-1 and GIP hormones, helping regulate appetite, improve insulin sensitivity, and support metabolic balance.

How effective is Mounjaro for weight loss?

Clinical trials report average weight loss between 15–21% over 72 weeks, with stronger effects than many other GLP‑1 drugs.

What are the common side effects of Mounjaro?

Users often report nausea, headache, constipation or diarrhea, decreased appetite, and stomach discomfort, especially during dose escalation.

How long does it take for Mounjaro to start working?

Many people begin seeing appetite suppression and energy stability within a few weeks, with full effects in 3–6 months depending on dose and lifestyle.

Can you switch from medications like Ozempic or Wegovy to Mounjaro?

Yes—under medical guidance, transitioning between GLP‑1 therapies is common and depends on your response and goals.

Do you need a prescription and how is Mounjaro administered?

It’s prescription-only and used via once-weekly subcutaneous injection, typically via pen. Starting doses are low and titrated over time.

How should Mounjaro be stored?

Mounjaro pens should be refrigerated until first use, then can stay at room temperature for a limited time (often 21 days), and protected from extreme heat or freezing.

Can you take Mounjaro any time of day and switch the injection day?

Yes—it may be taken at any time on your scheduled day. To shift your injection day, ensure there's at least 72 hours between doses.

What about cost and insurance coverage?

ORAL SEMAGLUTIDE

What is compounded oral semaglutide, and how does it differ from brand-name versions?

Compounded oral semaglutide is a version made by licensed compounding pharmacies and includes the same active ingredient as FDA-approved products—but it isn’t FDA-reviewed.

Does compounded oral semaglutide actually work for weight loss?

Emerging research and user reports suggest it can support weight loss in a similar range to injectable or FDA-approved oral versions when taken consistently.

Why are people turning to compounded oral semaglutide?

After shortages of branded injectables, compounded options became more accessible and often cost less—especially when name-brand versions were undersupplied.

What dosage forms do compounded oral semaglutide come in?

It can be formulated in various styles—capsules, orally dissolving tablets (ODTs), sublingual drops or strips, even nasal sprays or lozenges depending on the pharmacy.

Is compounded oral semaglutide actually cheaper than brand-name products?

Often, yes: compounded versions are usually less expensive, especially when insurance doesn’t cover branded GLP‑1s for weight loss.

How do side effects compare with compounded oral semaglutide?

Reported side effects reflect those of regular semaglutide—nausea, abdominal distress, and digestive changes. . Think of it as one more way to up your wellness game—with science that actually makes sense.

ORAL TIRZEPATIDE

What is oral compounded tirzepatide and how does it work?

Oral compounded tirzepatide is a sublingual (dissolving under the tongue) tablet version of tirzepatide compounded by pharmacies; it delivers the same dual GLP‑1/GIP mechanism for appetite control and metabolic support via absorption through the mouth lining.

Is compounded oral tirzepatide FDA-approved?

No — compounded versions aren't FDA-approved and don’t go through the same quality and safety testing as branded versions like Mounjaro or Zepbound.

Can oral compounded tirzepatide help with weight loss?

Many users report weight loss in the range of 15–20%, similar to clinical outcomes of injectable tirzepatide when paired with lifestyle changes, though these findings are not FDA-verified.

What dosage forms are available for oral compounded tirzepatide?

It typically comes as a once-daily sublingual tablet designed to dissolve under the tongue—absorbing through the mucous membranes rather than being swallowed.

Why was compounded oral tirzepatide available in the first place?

It emerged during brand-name shortages, offering a workaround via compounding pharmacies to meet high demand when FDA-approved supply was limited.

Are side effects similar to injectable tirzepatide?

Yes—the side effect profile mirrors injectables and may include nausea, reduced appetite, bloating, or mild gastrointestinal discomfort—though consistency can vary due to compounding differences.

What dosing is typical for oral compounded tirzepatide?

Reported dosing usually ranges from 3–6 mg daily, sometimes starting lower for microdosing protocols, but precise dosing can vary by provider guide.

Is absorption reliable in oral forms compared to injections?

Peptides like tirzepatide are typically broken down in the digestive tract, so sublingual delivery aims to bypass this—but absorption can be less predictable than weekly injectables. Think of it as one more way to up your wellness game—with science that actually makes sense.

NAD+

What is NAD+?

NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is a crucial coenzyme found in every cell that supports energy production, DNA repair, and overall cellular health.

What are the benefits of supplementing with NAD+?

What benefits do users report with NAD⁺ nasal spray?

People often experience improved mental clarity, increased energy and stamina, better mood and focus, and support with fatigue or cravings.

When can I expect to feel results using it regularly?

Users commonly report feeling effects—like brain clarity or energy—in as little as within an hour or consistently within 2–3 weeks of daily or twice-daily use.

How often can NAD⁺ nasal spray be used safely?

The most common protocol is 1–2 sprays per nostril daily or as needed, often 1 spray in each nostril, once or twice a day.

Can NAD⁺ nasal spray help with brain fog or stress?

Research and user feedback suggest it may help reduce mental fog, support cognitive wellness, and improve resistance to stress.

How is the spray different from NAD⁺ injections or pills?

It bypasses the digestive system like injections (but without needles), offering quicker absorption and higher bioavailability than oral supplements.

Are there side effects to be aware of?

Most users report mild and temporary symptoms such as fatigue, headache, slight nasal irritation, or mild stomach discomfort.

What if I feel nasal irritation—what helps?

Many find that spacing sprays out, gently adjusting technique, or cooling the spray slightly helps reduce irritation.

Who might benefit most from using it?

Those managing low energy, cognitive fog, fatigue, or aging-related metabolic changes may find NAD⁺ nasal support especially helpful.

Is refrigeration required, and how long does it last?

Refrigeration is often recommended between uses to preserve potency; sprays typically last through a 14 mL bottle (around 120 sprays). Think of it as one more way to up your wellness game—with science that actually makes sense.

OZEMPIC

What is Ozempic and how does it work?

Ozempic is a once-weekly injectable prescription medication containing semaglutide, a GLP‑1 receptor agonist that helps regulate blood sugar, slow digestion, and reduce appetite by mimicking the natural hormone GLP‑1 .

While not FDA-approved for weight loss, many users still experience 5–15% average weight reduction as a secondary benefit when paired with diet and exercise.

How long does it take to see results?

Appetite suppression and blood sugar effects often begin within a few weeks; more significant weight and metabolic benefit typically emerge over 3 to 6 months.

What are the most common side effects?

Digestive symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and constipation are most common—typically mild and transient, especially during dose escalation.

Will Ozempic affect my thyroid or pancreas?

Rare cases of pancreatitis have been reported—talk to your provider if you have a history of these conditions.

Are there any drug or food interactions?

While there are few major food interactions, some medications—especially those needing rapid GI absorption—may be affected. Inform your provider of all supplements or meds you take.

What happens if I stop taking Ozempic?

Many users report return of appetite and some weight regain if lifestyle habits aren’t maintained. Long-term follow-up or maintenance dosing is common to sustain benefits.

Is Ozempic safe to use if I don’t have diabetes?

Some non-diabetic users receive it “off-label” for weight management under provider supervision. An FDA-approved version—Wegovy—exists specifically for chronic weight loss and maintenance. Think of it as one more way to up your wellness game—with science that actually makes sense.

SERMORELIN

What is sermorelin?

Sermorelin is a synthetic peptide that stimulates the body’s production of growth hormone by acting on the pituitary gland, often used to support aging, recovery, and overall vitality.

How does sermorelin work?

It works by signaling your brain to produce more natural growth hormone, which helps with tissue repair, metabolism, and energy levels.

What are the benefits of sermorelin?

Benefits may include improved sleep, increased energy, better muscle tone, enhanced recovery, and a more youthful appearance, primarily by boosting your body's natural growth hormone levels.

Are there any side effects of sermorelin?

Side effects are usually mild and can include injection site reactions, flushing, or headaches. Serious side effects are rare but should be discussed with a healthcare provider.

Is sermorelin safe?

When prescribed and monitored by a healthcare professional, sermorelin is generally considered safe, especially when used appropriately; however, it may not be suitable for everyone and requires medical supervision. Think of it as one more way to up your wellness game—with science that actually makes sense.

WEGOVY

What is Wegovy and how does it work?

Wegovy is a once-weekly injectable medication containing semaglutide, a GLP‑1 receptor agonist that helps curb appetite, slow digestion, and support weight loss by mimicking a natural hormone made in your gut.

How effective is Wegovy for weight loss?

In major clinical trials, about 83% of users lost at least 5% body weight and nearly 48% lost 15% or more after 68 weeks when combined with diet and exercise.

What kind of side effects can I expect?

Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, headache, dizziness, and fatigue. Most are mild and tend to ease as your body adjusts.

When might I start noticing results?

Many people feel reduced hunger or steadier energy within the first few weeks, with fuller weight loss and metabolic benefits unfolding over 3 to 6 months.

Can Wegovy help reduce heart disease risk?

Yes—studies show Wegovy can lower the risk of major cardiovascular events like heart attack and stroke in people with obesity or related conditions when used alongside diet and activity.
